Olórí Ẹbí · Family Head
The Olórí Ẹbí is the recognised head of an extended family or compound. The term is gender-neutral. Traditional practice often associates the role with seniority, and often with the oldest male, but families and branches differ.
This archive records family recognition, custom, consensus and documentary or oral evidence. Age alone does not appoint anyone. The role does not imply monarchy or chieftaincy. Different branches may recognise different heads, and a family may leave the role unset.
No current holder is asserted here without a reviewed, explicitly confirmed appointment.
Lineage of office
Former holders remain part of the record. After a holder’s death, succession stays under review until a successor is explicitly confirmed.

Record a reviewed appointment
First end an existing appointment before adding its successor. Keep disputed accounts under review. Do not confirm merely because a candidate is oldest.
